This post will be an eye opener for MNO and App Developers

Most of the people prefer website over shopping apps in handset for e-shopping,  According to a study conducted by a research firm, Nielsen, Indian smartphones audience still prefer websites for online shopping than using shopping apps on their device. However when it comes to accessing content on the smartphone, there has been an increasing preference for apps over websites.
Close to 25 percent of smartphone-users in country prefer to shop online while just 3 percent of smartphone users’ access shopping apps, the study.
However, in the shopping genre, the smartphone audience still prefers websites," the study said.

Flipkart leads the marketplace as most popular shopping site with a reach of 5 percent followed by eBay. As far as shopping apps are concerned, eBay has the highest penetration with just over 1 percent of smartphone-users accessing the app at least once a month, while Flipkart comes in second with a reach of just under one percent.
Although mobile shopping is still in its infancy, According to the survey, it was found that more smartphone-users aged between 25 and 35 years engaged in m-commerce. Of these, 8 per cent said that they have made online purchases on their devices, which is higher than any other age group.

"Shopping apps are still in a very nascent stage with just 3 per cent of smartphone users accessing them. On the other hand, 1 in 4 (25 per cent) smartphone users’ access shopping websites at least once a month, clearly indicating a preference for the website platform," it added. How to Upgrade or Downgrade BBOS

Upgrade/ downgrade of BBOS

We usually think OS upgrade or downgrade is a troublesome task and requires hard core technical expertise. Many of our friends visit stores/local repairing shop/technical guy and are charged heavily for the simple process which can be done sitting at home with internet connection.
Yes, we do require basic understanding of the handset and the connectivity along with basic knowledge in computers which I think 99% people have.
Those who have difficulty in following out the process are requested to visit Authorized service center only.

Here we go…

First and very important is to secure the data, hence backup the entire Device data and save it in a location easily recognizable or understood

Then uninstalled Desktop Manager and delete all other references to BB/Rim in Windows Explorer thus removing the OS for the BB from the computer in order to ensure that the version you would re-install would be a brand new downloaded version.

If your own carrier doesn't list an OS, then have a look at others; there are plenty on the list. If you have to use another carriers' OS, don’t worry just navigation the PC to
C:\Program Files\Common Files\Research in Motion\AppLoader and delete the file vendor.xml

If the PC does not recognize the BB, You need to connect the via the USB cable. Then pull the battery from the BB.
With the battery pulled, connect the BlackBerry to the USB connector and as SOON as you see USB-PIN:UNKNOWN hit Next. You have to be quick. From there you can put the battery back in (make sure you install the battery or else when the OS update is completing and the device disconnects from the computer to reboot, it will lose the power provided by the USB connection and you will get an error and have to do it all over again!).

If you don't get it right the first time, try again (unplug from USB, pull battery, connect and hit Next while USB-PIN:Unknown is showing). You have to be fast and the timing is key, so it may take you three or four attempts.

To erase all the data on your BlackBerry device, complete the following steps.

  • Download JL_Cmder from -Download JL_Loader
  • Install JL_Cmder to computer
  • Double check you have already backed-up the BB.
  • If you DO NOT, you will lose ALL data
  • Close Desktop Manager and plug in the BB to computer via USB
  • Go to JL_Cmder in computer and double click it to start.
  • This may take few tries so keep trying until it connects.
  • On the first screen, Press any key to continue.
  • If your device has password, enter it now.
  • If not, press "N"
  • Press 4 to initiate the WIPE
  • Press "Y" to continue
  • Type "blackberry" to continue

On the BB you will see a white screen with a'507' Error.
Don't worry, this is what you want! You are now ready to install the OS.
  • Launch the new Desktop Software on the computer
  • On the home screen of the BlackBerry® Desktop Software.
  • Click Device > Update my device.
  • Click View Other Versions.
  • Click the version of the new OS you previously downloaded.
  • Click Install

The Desktop Manager will install the OS and then provide you with a list of applications to install.

If you have had difficulties with an app, do not install it.

Do not disconnect the device until the whole process is completed and the device has rebooted.

After 10 minutes reboot again by removing the battery whilst powered-on and leave it out for a couple of minutes.
Leave it again for 10 minutes. You should now have a fully functioning BB!

Isn't it very simple, please comment and share your inputs.
